Rebel Without A Cause (1955)
- One of the first ever teen angst films. It starred James Dean and other teens who act out their frustrations with their home lives in equally frustrating ways.
West Side Story (1961)
- Based on Romeo and Juliet but set in a modern time period about two warring gangs and teens from each gang falling in love and rebelling against their respective gangs. Used dance and music for one of the first times in teen angst films.
To Sir With Love (1967)
- One of the first and most famous British teen angst films set amid the mod movement in the UK. It is about an American teachers affect on the hearts and minds of troubled students.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
- Set in a dystopian near future Britain and is based on psychiatry, juvenile delinquency and youth gangs. Much more violent than many of the other films but also include the musical aspect.
Over The Edge (1979)
-This is another more crime based teen angst film kind of like Clockwork Orange which is about drug and alcohol abuse by high school students.
Class of 1984 (1982)
- About a new teacher in a troubled inner city school and a gang leader that rules the school called Stegman. Overall it is also about the genres of crime and thriller and follows the same sort of story as over the edge.
Footloose (1984)
- Another one of the most famous teen angst films which is about a town that has banned rock and roll music and a teen trying to rebel against the rules using dance.
The Breakfast Club (1985)
- It is a comedy, coming of age film following five high school teenagers from different high school cliques who spend a Saturday in detention and realise that they are more than just their stereotypes.
Ferris Beullers Day Off (1986)
- About a high school student who spends a day at home rather than going to school, uses the break of the forth wall giving advice throughout on how to skip school.
Heathers (1988)
- A girl is having her reputation destroyed by the snobby clique so she creates a plot with a sociopath to kill all the cool kids.
Angus (1995)
- Stars an awkward, overweight teen boy who is bullied by his classmates and ends up getting set up with his crush at prom so he must learn to stand up for himself.
Mean Girls (2004)
- A home schooled teen girl is sent to public school for the first time and she gets invited to sit with the popular group, she is then used by someone else to get revenge on the popular girls.
Superbad (2007)
-About two high school students trying to get girls before they graduate by buying booze and partying with the popular people.
Easy A (2010)
- A girl gets a rumour spread about her losing her virginity where she is then getting bullied for it, she decides to make it her own and acts much more promescuis.
Spring Breakers (2012)
- Four 18 year old girls travel to florida for spring break where they find themself in a drug and gun ring trying to get money.
